Lindeman can claim to be the first of the islands in the Whitsunday group to be developed. There was a resort on the island as early as 1923. In 1974 P&O took over the island and rebuilt the resort, which was purchased by Club Med in 1992. Lindeman Island is Australia's first Club Med, with the emphasis on having fun in the sun. Club Med is renowned for its 'all inclusive' policy, with everything prepaid when you arrive. This leaves you to relax for the course of your stay, knowing that three gourmet buffet meals per day will be provided - including beer and wine - as well as all day snacking and full bar service, and the whole range of activities. One of the few extras that is not included is entry to their Award Winning Village Spa, massage and beauty treatments.

The resort takes up only a tiny part of the island, which is about 690 hectares of National Park. Club Med is a village of colonial colours, finished in terra cotta and natural timbers and built on terraced hill slopes leading down to the main beach and swimming pool. There's no shortage of things to see and do on Lindeman either, and all the famous Club Med activities apply. There's even a nine hole golf course on the cliff tops.

Club Med has long been a favourite with families on vacation. Their purpose built children's clubs are open 12 hours a day and staffed by our trained child care professionals. Parents can relax and get on with their own holiday, knowing their children are safe and happy.

Club Med is also the perfect honeymoon solution. Their traditional wedding gift is a 25 percent reduction in the cost of the bride's stay, on a minimum 7-night stay. Couples love the choice of romantic dining settings, with unlimited wines, beer and soft drinks at lunch and dinner, and sports and activities to suit both partners.

And there's no friendlier holiday on earth for singles wanting to meet other singles, with sports and entertainment activities geared up for fun. Club Med's Solo Rendezvous' on Lindeman Island for 30+ singles has become legendary. Club Med offers single travellers the choice of a single room - with a supplement - or twin share accommodation, sharing with a stranger, and avoiding the surcharge.
