Another guest blogger…

After my nephew Joseph had made the most of his adventures in Cairns, we welcomed another long lost family member, his sister - one of my favourites nieces - Yesica (who has been living in France and England) … with her new husband Dave.

They were kind enough to journal their experiences…

“Our day out on the Great Barrier Reef was a definite highlight! It was Dave’s first time scuba diving and it didn’t disappoint, especially when we bumped into this beautiful sea turtle!

Bruce Belcher’s Daintree river cruise was also a great experience! These two females had just been fighting and we were hoping to witness round two but instead they just stared each other down! And as a bonus we got a free lunch included on our return!

The drive from the Daintree rainforest back down to Cairns was beautiful! We enjoyed stopping at several small beaches and simply taking in the scenery!

On Thursday we went up to Kuranda via the scenic railway, spent the day there eating yummy falafels and looking around tourist shops, which was nice. But our ride back down on the Skyrail was even more AWESOME! Looking down at the rainforest from above was a really unique and memorable experience.

On Saturday we took our young cousin Nico out for a frozen yoghurt and walk along the Cairns Esplanade. We had fun getting our feet all muddy, racing leaves down little “rivers” and working out on the gym equipment! We love you Nico!

On our last day out, we visited the Atherton Tablelands and enjoyed seeing a platypus, visiting waterfalls and warming up with a hot chocolate at the cheese and chocolate factory. On our way back we thought we’d stop and see the Cathedral Fig Tree. We weren’t expecting to be so taken back by how impressive it was!!
