Te Anau

Queenstown is famous for jetboating, but we drove a little south to go jetboating on the Upper Waiau River which flows between Lake Te Anau and beautiful Lake Manapouri. Lord Of The Rings country, this is!

There’s not many things you can’t do in Queenstown. Personally, we mostly relaxed and recharged after a hectic three weeks.

But I did manage to fit in one adventure. See below as yours truly prepares to take the plunge on the first of a series of six ziplines that zig zag down the mountainside. Maximum speed 7okm/h.

Dunedin

In Dunedin we stayed in a motel that was far too nice to be called a motel. It was conveniently located, spacious and more than merely comfortable. And the price? Much less than you would expect!

By this stage, Nicholas was refusing to stay anywhere that didn’t have a jacuzzi!

Maria went on an evening wildlife tour, returning at 9:30pm. Nico and I saved her one slice of pizza. Although I think Nico did pick some of her pineapple off it.

That’s a big fat sea lion, in case you couldn’t tell. And a yellow eyed penguin in the photo above.
